H.U.A

HUA = head up ass.

Mr. Bush has certainly qualified for this distinction in the past, but he's never deserved it more than he does now. Despite intelligence reports stating that the state of nuclear affairs in Iran is not as bad as previously believed, the "president" continues to make threats:

Bush said the new intel "contradicting earlier US assessments...would not prompt him to take off the table the possibility of pre-emptive military action against Iran."

Um, excuse me, Mr. President...just when are you going to learn from your mistakes? Is this not the same bullshit you tried to spin about Iraq? Do you really think you have enough trust with the American public and congress to actually try and start a 3rd front? No, sir, you do not.

You're acting like a child - refusing to hear the truth with your fingers in your ears chanting "nyah, nyah, nyah, I can't hear you". Why don't you sit down and take a time out? Please, for the love of God, just stop!

I understand your point here but I am not entirely convinced. I'm not coming out to support one side or another because each has their own agenda, I'm simply trying to piece it together for myself.

They are saying Iran halted its nuclear weapons program back in 2003...so, we are finding this out now, in 2007? We are FOUR years behind the times with this report. For the past 12 years, intel in this country has been varied and inaccurate so I'm not ready to accept this one as infallible.

In 2005, there was another intelligence report stating the exact opposite. Mahmoud is not answering any questions and is not letting anyone in there to see. That being said, I don't blame anyone who doesn't accept what three State Department people say as the gospel truth when there is more evidence to suggest otherwise.

Another thing is that NIE reports are such low level releases of information obtained through low levels of material. They are classified as "Confidential" Compared to actionable intelligence gathered in real time, (with a much higher classification), NIE reports are reduced to "garbage in, garbage out."

So, all of a sudden, we have diffused the Iranian nuclear program with a report four years behind the times? Let's just say that I remain highly skeptical. I don't know if America is going to take this at face value or not,but I sure as heck hope that Israel gets more intel than this report..for their sakes.

Having lived extensively in Iran and Saudi Arabia, I know the hearts and minds of these folks, and I can assure you that all is not roses and perfume. Iranians laugh at Americans on a regular basis because it's so painfully easy to lie to us. Why? Because we're stupid enough to believe them. To them, we're the infidel and whatever tenants they live by most assuredly don't apply to us.

Whatever anyone may think of Bushy, he would be most unwise to ever let up on Iran. Same goes for Iraq. Anyone who believes they didn't have WMD is a fool. Those puppies were spirited out to Syria at the first sniff of America's deployment to their sand dune.

Where we have failed in our foreign policy is not understanding the Middle Eastern mindset. Safety tip #1: Know thine enemy. America has allowed the Democrat bleating to derail the very covert actions that would aid in our never being attacked again.

Interestingly enough, just four months ago on July 11, 2007 the Deputy Director of Analysis Thomas Fingar, one of the three authors of the NIE testified before the House Armed Services Committee. These are his exact words: "Iran and North Korea are the states of most concern to us. The United States' concerns about Iran are shared by many nations, including many of Iran's neighbors. Iran is continuing to pursue uranium enrichment and has shown more interest in protracting negotiations and working to delay and diminish the impact of UNSC sanctions than in reaching an acceptable diplomatic solution. We assess that Tehran is determined to develop nuclear weapons -- despite its international obligations and international pressure. This is a grave concern to the other countries in the region whose security would be threatened should Iran acquire nuclear weapons."

Four months later he completely changes his mind and so now we are all to believe Iran is now a sweet little kitten?? Its pretty obvious there is an agenda here and unfortunately, the American people seem to have the attention span of a goldfish and tend to believe anything they are spoonfed. Either that or they are just too lazy to pay attention or do their own research.

So, now what--we all join hands and sing Kumbaya because a few guys said to not worry about Iran?? Sorry but this NIE report is nothing more than a flaming political hack job.

I second what anon 11:05 says, I have been to the Middle East three times and have seen it with my own eyes. Of course, what I know will never be in the New York Times or US News & World report as they seem to struggle with the concept of truthful and accurate reporting. Their priorities consist of whomever has been offended for the day or some 1960's reject who drank too much of Al Gore's Kool Aid crying about this junk science called global warming.

These idiot liberals are the ones making America vulnerable. They are more worried about trees, trans fats, and their gentle feelings than the safety of the American people. They are more worried about the feelings of terrorists and we are losing so many servicemen because we are expected to fight a war with our hands tied behind our backs.

Like him or not, Bush's job is to prevent another 9/11, not hold our hands, wipe our noses, and tell us what we want to hear.

I'm not trying to be a fearmonger or anything but people need to get their hands out of the sand. Stop worrying about the past, and start worrying about the future because our children are going to have to live in it.

Should have been heads out of the sand, not hands. Good thing the Marines don't rate me for my proofreading abilities.

But pre-emptive military action? Come on now...how necessary would this actually be and feasible? From what I've seen the military is stretched rather thin, recruiting is way down unless you're dragging the bottom of the barrel, and families are being torn apart.

While I certainly think that Iran is dangerous and using military power as a political tool to flex some muscle for purposes of keeping Iranians more in line is a smart option, do we really need another front? I, and many, many Americans, certainly don't think so.

I support my troops. You guys are fucking awesome! But producing another quagmire that will only further tarnish this country's image, demoralize our fighting men and women, and further polarize our political system is absurd. Until we have more of a handle on the *current* situations, I honestly hope we stay the hell out.
